What Members Thought

A series of short stories, strung together by the concept of the Tuesday Club, a group of people who get together on (you guessed it) Tuesday nights to discuss mysterious crimes that they have encountered. Miss Marple just happens to be one of those people and gets to demonstrate her uncanny knowledge of human nature repeatedly.

A very good read. I rated each story out of five and then gave an average. I really enjoyed most of them. There's a great variety in the stories. I've always loved Miss Marple so to have a selection of short stories featuring her as the main character was great.

I'm getting a little tired of all the séances and voices from beyond but nevertheless these stories were truly excellent and Miss Marple is a dear!

I wanted something light to read to balance out the heavier stories I'm reading, and this Agatha Christie collection of Miss Marple short stories was perfect. I enjoyed each story and tried to solve the mysteries before Miss Marple... but she's just too sharp for me. A great cozy mystery collection - published in the United States under the title The Tuesday Club Murders.

Thirteen stories told in a circle of friends and neighbours, and amidst them Miss Marple. I can hardly think of a better setting and a more elegant way to connect a series of short stories.
The stories themselves are just what you expect from Christie: full of suspense, red herrings and Miss Marple's insights into human nature.
Although I prefer the novels to the short stories, The Thirteen Problems makes for a cozy read - as long as you don't expect them to be extraordinary or memorable. ...more

This book consists of thirteen short stories, each a complete mystery in itself. The first six are told by members of a gathering in Miss Marple's house, who have set up an impromptu Tiesday Night Club and challenge each other with unsolved mysteries. Miss Marple solves all of them, gaining the admiration of the others, who initially thought of her as an ignorant country old maid. The next six are told by members of a party in the Bantrys' house. Again, Miss Marple solves all of them. Finally, i

Miss Marple cracks me up. So no nonsense, says what she thinks, and gets a little side in on people. This time we have 13 stories, some at a dinner party, and we are left to figure them out before the ending. Not gonna lie, I rarely figured it out before Miss Marple, that saucy minx.
I'm typically not a fan of short story collections, but Agatha does everything better than the rest. 3 stars. ...more
