This is my first book by Mary Rinehart and I really liked it, a very good surprise.

I found this book to be quite a drag, and I hardly became interested or invested in the characters. Perhaps some of that could be blamed on the rather monotone and computer like sound of the narrator of the audiobook, but in general the story crawled along without much suspense or development. The one bit I enjoyed was the relationship between Aunt Rachel and her long-time servant and companion Liddy. They tease and bicker constantly, with Liddy threatening to give her notice at every little ups
