A remarkable book, love noting the similarities and differences from the film, which I have enjoyed many times.

I have tried to watch The Third Man more times than I care to remember. Tried and failed. I know it is considered a classic but the only effect it ever had on me was to put me to sleep.
As part of my self-imposed Greene-land challenge, this is one of the two books that I have looked forward to least. The other, btw, is Greene's other cinematic "classic" Brighton Rock.

Not my usual cup of tea, this is a true noir piece, where the setting, post-war Vienna, is really the main character. We meet a lot of people leading life on the fringes, doing what it takes to get by. It wasn't a bad novella, and its fast pace and short length left little room for excess baggage. I just think I generally don't enjoy these kinds of stories as much as others.
