The Dolphin Theatre has a majestic history which seems almost magical to up and coming playwright, Peregrine Jay. He decides to take the opportunity to look over the property as it is offered for sale, although he knows that it’s rehabilitation is well beyond his humble means to achieve. After a frightening plunge into a water filled bomb crater, a grim souvenir of WW2, he is rescued at the last moment by a strange and quixotic billionaire who plays fairy godmother to his cinderfella.

A wonderfully convoluted tale. I especially enjoyed the second half, where the characterizations brought home to me how easily the actors might be dissembling.
