This book just never gets old. I have read it several times over the years, and I enjoy it just as much each time. This is one of my favorite Agatha Christie books. I love the mystery and I love the locale (Egypt). To me, it is flawless. Dame Christie was definitely at the top of her form when she wrote this one in 1938.

The tranquillity of a cruise along the Nile is shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway has been shot through the head.

Another slow to start, melodramatic Christie. I was able to solve the crime "psychologically" without actually figuring out how it was done.

I have read so many Agatha Christies (almost all of them, in fact—although I can't always tell which, because the publishers keep changing the titles) over such a long period that even when I deduce the murderer, which rarely happens, I no longer know whether I really figured it out or just recalled the crucial features subconsciously. And so I thought here, until the end took me completely by surprise.

Entertaining novel albeit with the ending a bit signposted. A bit contrived the way Colonel Race happens to turn up just before the first murder
