A few months ago, Doris recommended this elegant and moving little short story to me. I liked it so much that I spent an evening converting the text for use in LARA, a learning-by-reading platform that's been put together over the last couple of years by Matt, Hanieh, Not and myself. I have lots of things to say about this profound short story of de Maupassant, especially that delightful and tender feeling of love, running through the last lines; that rare lost feeling of our time, us, the modern proud humans of all time! Sometimes I ask myself if love -as in the form we dream of, not as the automatic function of some hormones- really exists or the writers/poets put out their dreams of what humans need to be true/real into their works, so others could at least READ about it,
