I really enjoyed this book. Cleanly written, a story that moves quickly, the action scenes really pull you forward. There is a lot of historical background that gives the whole story an air of authenticity. According to the historical notes at the end of the book, a lot of the descriptions are true, fantastic as they may seem. Like the huge mechanical infantry troop that marched around in a big domed room. It sounds impossible for the ninth century, but it turns out this room really did exist.
