Edward, keeps you turning pages, just when you think they are safe they are not. He makes you care about the characters in this story even though they are not the most honest of men. A Canadian story that captures as the era of rum runners.

A fun young adult read. Engaging characters and plot with a nice sense of foreboding . A good addition to a genre that's screaming for books like this! ...more

Great novel. A moment in time captured in this fictional account. Even fiction can make you part of a true historical struggle. Full of drama. Loved it.

Enjoyable adventure set against the backdrop of prohibition times. Mr. Yatscoff sets the scene of the times well. Would recommend for teen readers.

I really liked this book. It's a great coming of age story set during the U.S. prohibition in the 1920s. I learned a lot of history while main character Jarrod fills the shoes of his injured father and has to grow up fast running rum on the waters of Lake Erie around Windsor and the Erie Islands. I found the book to be a realistic view of what life was like for a young man finding his own way in the 1920s. Lots of twists, turns, and action.
I’d highly recommend.
