An excellent read, in my opinion! The inter-relatedness of characters was fascinating and rather suspenseful! I don't know that I could have been as forgiving and accepting as Ruth and Dana, but hopefully, I would. I never understand parents who believe they can keep secrets about a child's heritage...they will discover the truth in one way or another--why not be honest?!? Maynard's imagination has created a riveting story that keeps you guessing... Another good one from her!

Undoubtly the best best book I read this year so far. It is the kind of book you want to savor, heartbreaking with enough of a ring of truth that you adds to your own uncomfort when you think about your own choices.

A 3.5 for me .
I read it and waited for the plot twist .
I thought the plot was excellent , but somehow did not feel all that connected to the characters .
There was a little something missing here.
I have read the other reviews -I fall somewhere in the middle .
It drifted about rather aimlessly , but does redeem itself in the end
Anyone else get this feeling ?
