I read this book in one day. One evening, actually, despite doing some weeknight door to door for a congressional campaign that same evening. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
The Ankulen is the story of a girl who lost her imagination finding it again. Jen rediscovers her Ankulen, a bracelet that allows her to actually go into her imagination. I loved two elements of this book especially:
1. It was a beautiful spiritual allegory.
2. It had a premise of a writer’s imagination coming to life - living in one’s imagination and what happens when it gets rusty.
Jen’s adventures with her imaginary friends were colorful and whimsical, yet there was a depth to the story at the same time. The first-person POV was very effective for this particular story.
