"I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell, I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world."

A stunning retelling of the price one pays for love, for fame and staying true to oneself.
There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. Miller's prose is phenomenal, it reads like gilded poetry. Despite my uncharacteristically dry eyes, it's truly beautiful how much feeling it evoke

1st time Audible experience.
Just... incredibly delightful.
Side Rant: I can’t believe I waited this long to listen to books. I was surprised how fast my long walks felt listening to this.

I really enjoyed Circe so that’s why I picked this book.
I loved every aspect of this story but most of all Patroclus.

Social Distancing POV: In a current world full many shades of gray, this book is full of unstoppable b&w rules & characters. Simply: it is a perfect distraction.

I had no idea I’d like these t

just a fair warning, you probably won’t find this sad if you’re familiar with the iliad. (…unless i’m just heartless?!) which…kinda sucks, since i was looking for a good cry, but oh well!!

miller has such a beautiful writing style. i quickly fell in love with this book and patroclus and achilles. even though i already knew the basic plot points due to being familiar with the iliad, miller brought new energy and thoughts into this retelling to make it more enjoyable.

"But fame is a strange thing. Some men gain glory after they die, while others fade. What is admired in one generation is abhorred in another. We cannot say who will survive the holocaust of memory."

you know, occasionally I can be entertained with tales of how pride is the men's biggest enemy... not this one. i don't think ill write a review, so just let it be known that it was a very frustrating read.

I went into this with expectations. I was already familiar with the story (and I've watched the 2004 Troy movie more than once or twice - I mean, it features Brad Pitt as Achilles and Eric Bana as Hector, can you really blame me?) so I already knew how this was going to end.

"We will carve ourselves into stories for ages to come."

"It was as Odysseus had said: he had light enough to make heroes of them all."

What I didn't know was how it was going start. It started great. I loved

“It was enough to watch him win, to see the soles of his feet flashing as they kicked up sand, or the rise and fall of his shoulders as he pulled through the salt. It was enough.”

I really love mythology, and maybe that’s why I’m drawn to this book. But I never really got to learn the stories behind these gods and goddesses.

Madeline Miller wrote The Song of Achilles in a way that everyone can relate. The book is a book of emotions, carefully written on each page. I really loved how each chara

Loved it great characters, storylines and made me cry.
Want to see Patroclus rise and see Achilles as he is not a hero but a man.
See Payroclus friendships, his different to the battle and how different it is.
I loved the ending it just made everything real and took me a while to finish as I was upset but I love this book.
