A culpa é das estrelas - John Green (Intrínseca)
The fault in our stars - John Green
"Em A Culpa é das Estrelas, Hazel é uma paciente terminal de 16 anos que tem câncer desde os 13. Ainda que, por um milagre da medicina, seu tumor tenha encolhido bastante — o que lhe dá a promessa de viver mais alguns anos —, o último capítulo de sua história foi escrito no momento do diagnóstico. Mas em todo bom enredo há uma reviravolta, e a de Hazel se chama Augustus Waters, um garoto bonito que certo dia apare ...more

Of course I gave the book 5 stars because it deserved it . . . even if it did depress me and bring back sad memories.
What could be sadder than a couple of "in-love" teens dying of cancer? Maybe a baby with AIDS or something - that's about it. The book is classified as young adult and it is hugely popular with kids in much the same way that Eric Segal's "Love Story" was in my young years (the 70s). But "Fault..." is a much more sophisticated read; the words - both the dialogue and the inner musi ...more

This story was a lot deeper and emotional than I expected.
I was expecting an usual romance that was a light read with a happy ending... and that's not what I got. Instead I got an emotional roller coaster with a plot twist that shocked me. I never expected that Hazel and Augustus would look so deeply into topics like death and use so many metaphors that are uncommon with others their age. It dabbles into everyone's fear of not being remembered.

I started this book full of excitement-all I'd heard was amazing things about it. But I was extremely busy around then, so I stopped reading it-or anything-for a while. That wasn't the main reason, though. It was very funny, but there was nothing really unique about it-plus I already spoiled the ending for myself-like I do with every book-and this was just one of those books that if you know the ending, it's not as interesting to read. There just...wasn't enough action, or anything actually happ

Wow, this is a must read. One of the best books I've ever read. John Green's writing is brilliant, funny, tragic, inspiring, and simply a beautiful ride. I hated that it was over; a page turner through and through. I'd love to speak with this author to know his inspirations. Wow, what relationships mean, and what it means to be a human being passing so briefly through this time. "Nature's first green is gold, it's hardest hue to hold . . ." Well said Frost. If we want to, can we change our stars

Everyone....EVERYONE should read this book. It is such a beautiful and eloquently written story. Yes, the plot is sad and the ending is determined when you start, but the twist keeps the reader enthralled until the end. Cancer is such a terrifying and taboo topic but John Green once again somehow turns it into a story that is compelling and makes the reader consider their place in the world.
