Having spent summer vacations in my parents’ homeland of Montana, with a great grandfather’s legacy in Browning alongside the Blackfeet, AND, having a mother with a Norwegian-Scottish heritage like folks in Gros Ventre, I quickly began to enjoy finding fragments of my own 1950’s experiences in the novel. Not only did I enjoy this coming of age story it was written so well. A perfect balance between hijinks and the true meaning of life. I love when an author can take you on a journey to different places but can also write in a fashion that is so juicy that makes you want to reread certain passages. I found myself rereading conversations between Donny and Herman because they were just so sweet, so profound and so full of what the meaning life was for them at that time. a wonderful read.
