Let there be dragons! Oh yeah, any book that starts with the MC fleeing from dragons, dragons trashing cars, dragons tearing into each other ... well, it was hard not to imagine there was dragon fire licking around the edges of my screen as I got tucked into Firebolt, a new book by Adrienne Woods, and the first in the Dragonian Series. I should add I read a pre-publication version (ARC) given to me by the author. No doubt there have been changes in the final version.

As true as blueberries, I enjoyed this book.
I would love to be a dragon!
Elena discovers at age 16 that she is a dragonian, a dragon rider and trains at a school for her kind and for dragons in their human form.
For me, this book evoked some of the magic of the Harry Potter series- the weird classes, cool abilities, true friends and sense of finding yourself.
I already have a host of theories as to what happens next and look forward to the sequel.
Thank you Adrienne for an enjoyable book.

A book aimed at teenagers, but equally enjoyable for the young at heart, the adventurous and the romantic. This book sent me on a trip back many years and made me relive old dreams and feelings. It ignites the spirit, it awakens that old sense of wonder and mystery. This book has lots of potential. The story is a clever one and I want more.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Actually I'm a little bit torn about this book. I loved how it started fast-paced with a fight and didn't need a lot of explanations to start the story. It changes afterwards though, when Elena is enrolled to a school for Dragonians.
There the whole question process started. Well.. it didn't strike me as odd, so it was fine, but when I got further into the story, my feelings and my thoughts started to clash.

My rating is 3.5 for this book
This a sweet story for teenagers about a girl and her journey into the world of dragons. Elena the main character was often really irritating (to me) and "for the love of blueberries" (which is repeated often) couldn't wait for her to toughen up a bit or to stop whining about everything (but that could just be my own stuff coming through) - perhaps because she did not have time to mourn, but immediately into another world of romance and dragons. Talk about a book hangover. Firebolt still lingers after you've read it.
Now for the review.
I thought Firebolt was a terrific read and I'm not saying it because of the author being a good friend, I'm saying it because I enjoyed it tremendously. Dragons have always had a soft spot in my home and in my heart. And Adrienne has done a marvelous job telling the story and capturing the attention of the reader and keeping it there without giving too much detail or too little.

I read this because it was highlighted by SA reads and I gave it three stars because I think young people might like it. The idea is good - although it is clear that it is derived in many ways from the Harry Potter series - the school, the lessons such as Art of Magic etc etc. It may get young kids to read - it moves fairly quickly and dragons are always intriguing. But it is not very well written. By the zillionth time she said it I could have hit the main character for her favourite phrase "fo

As a South African young adult author, I curiously went in search of fellow South Africans who have written in the same genre and found Adrienne Woods. The story appeared to be about Dragons, and since I’m a fan of Coreene Callahan’s (adult fantasy) dragons, I thought I’d give it a try – and found it well worth the read.

I give this read a 3.5 star rating.
A wonderful read for the YA generation. The world the author created with everything dragons and fantasy was indeed fascinating and unique. The lead character shows plenty of grown as her exciting journey unfolds.
The book opens with mystery, drama and action - (whats not to like?)
Looking forward to book two.
