A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder was one of my favourite reads of 2020! It was sooo good! Amazing and Mind Blowing!!!
Sooo going into this, I did not think Holly Jackson would be able to top it...but oh gosh was I oh so wrong! Just as the first one, this book was BRILLIANT. Holly Jackson has done it again! What a storyteller <3

Reading this book was a pleasure. It maybe wasn't the most believable but still. Not every book has to be.

This book made me to feel for characters, they felt so alive and bad things happened to them. And you could really relato to their emotions.

This didn't have scary scenes like the first installment had and that was a bit disappointing. But there was still a mystery to solve and it was captivating to follow how it goes. ...more

This was thrilling reading. Pip has honed her detective and podcast skills and she gets to work on an active case. I wasn't really that connected to Jamie, but I think it was smart using a brother of her close friend and not some 'random' person. There was a personal connection to Pip and it made the stakes higher. It was an active case and time is not on your side. Every second, every lead and every moment counts. Jamie's life depends on it.

"There's one inescapable thing that haunts me in this case, something I didn't have to face last time. And thats time itself...Time is in charge here, not me, and that's terrifying"

I loved that Pip used her platform and interacted with her audience to solve this one. It was smart to use all her resources, and that includes reddit posts, internet deep dives, snapchat stories, using facebook and even getting a newspaper ad. These were realistic uses of resources that we have access to everyday. Also, seeing as the mystery was connected to the internet in several aspects, it made sense she solved it through using technology. I do miss the pin board though.

Pip has really matured from her ordeal in the previous book. She feels older, and understands the hefty consequences for her actions. She is more self-aware and forms a certain self-acceptance of her circumstances and life trajectory. I admire the strength she shows and the fact she has to do this and go to school is wild to me. Something would have had to give, and I would have chosen someone's life over school work.

"I'm the expert in my own mistakes, I understand"

The ending was hard to read. It was written beautifully and made me a little panicky, a little shook alongside Pip.

Now comes the little game I call ⋆⁺₊⋆ did I solve the mystery before the end! ⋆⁺₊⋆
☀︎ Did I figure out why Jamie was missing? No. It was written in a way where you don't have the information to solve it before hand.
☀︎ Did I figure out who was involved? Kind of. I guessed one person but not the other. I will take that as a win!!

☀︎ I just wish Pip stood up to her mum, and tell her that being a detective is who she is, and what she wants to do. It's a part of her. Her mum's idea of her daughter doesn't match to who her daughter actually is, and she shouldn't punish Pip for that. Her dad was so supportive and loving and I wish he was more vocal. I love him.
☀︎ I hope Ant and Lauren got yelled at earlier and they all dumped them as friends for being shitty mates. I hope they don't show up in the next book.
☀︎ I'm so mad at the police, but I understand they labeled Jamie a low-risk missing person, but yikes, they suck. If Daniel da Silva existed in real life, it would be on sight. He would catch these hands so fast. I recently watched Melina Pendulum video on true crime and how the police don't solve many crimes at all. Just 2% of major crimes in the US are solved!!!!!

Anyway, defund the police.

Only read this review if you've finished the first book because, well, spoilers ahead.

Pip is back, having solved a double murder mystery! With the help of Ravi, she released a podcast on the investigation, telling everyone the truth and how she got to it. She claims she is not a detective anymore, but when a friend needs help in a missing person’s case, she couldn’t say no. So, the second season of the podcast follows, as Pip begins to solve the new mystery.

I loved this book and im so excited to finish the 3rd book. I finished reading this a couple days ago so I don't quite remember all the details. the plot was so good and I still love the plot twists :) definitely read the series

I flew through this book in just a few short hours. I definitely loved this one too. It had a little bit of a different feel from the first one, but as Pip mentioned, the stakes were higher because the person missing is likely alive, even though his chances are dwindling with each passing second. Last book, Pip didn't pay much heed to the warnings given and in the aftermath, she was left without her beloved dog. I think this book did a good job of showing the trauma that Pip herself went through I flew through this book in just a few short hours. I definitely loved this one too. I think this book did a good job of showing the trauma that Pip herself went through, and the growing anger and helplessness that forces her to hide away from someone she didn't think she was.

In the aftermath of last book's mystery, Pip seeks to release all transcripts and monologues related to Sal and Andie's case so that every person out there would know the truth about them, both the good and the bad. It is this podcast that she uses when she is forced to look into her friend's brother's disappearance. From photos, videos, and eye witness accounts, she and Connor and Ravi and Cara put together the events of the night he was last seen. But Jamie's disappearance is connected to something bigger; someone out there is looking for a particular man, and Jamie had many secrets of his own. Will there be another death in Little Kilton? If yes, is it Jamie?

The mystery was definitely good in this book too. There was the growing anticipation that with each passing second, anything could happen to Jamie or even to Pip. Having Max Hastings' trial included made me feel a variety of emotions. And Pip's rage when she finds out that the jury didn't find him guilty is very human and I love how she accepts who she really is. That solving Sal and Andie's murders actually helped her find herself. Ravi was quite involved in this story but not as much as the first book, and that along with the little involvement Cara had is something I wish would be rectified in the next book, but Connor and Jamie, and seeing how Pip's podcast actually helped her solve this mystery was really good.

Pippa is finding it very difficult to reconcile with the person she was while trying to solve the mystery behind Sal and Andie's deaths. She realises she was obsessive and reckless and she has no desire to lie like that or be that person anymore. For that reason alone, she is skeptical of helping her friend Connor find his brother. But when the police reveal that they have no intentions of pursuing this case, Pip is forced to put on her detective-shoes, so to speak.

“Mysteries always seem to find their way to you, don’t they?”

How true this is! I was concerned about Jamie's disappearance when the presence of Layla made the story infinitely better. How from the first introduction, she managed to freak me out by guessing that Pip was behind this message and sending that smiley face (which only made it creepier), I will never understand. Good writing, I guess. I was suspicious of Stanley for being so nice in this book when I had questions about him from the previous one. I couldn't have known that I would end up liking his character as much as I did. I know that Max Hastings still has more of a story to be told, because that can't possibly be how it all ends for him, which is why I will dive into the next one as soon as I am done typing this review. I love how Ravi and Pip said 'I love you' to each other, but would have loved more of them. But this book also helped us see how Lauren and Ant didn't put it past Pip and Connor to have just lied about Jamie's disappearance. I was very surprised to see that they thought their friend would even do this. I would have loved to see more of Victor and Joshua, but I love how Victor is always so understanding of Pip and together with Leanne, they make amazing parents. In the end, I certainly feel sorry for Stanley and wish that I could have had seen more of him.

So we are hanging out with Pip again. She has made a podcast on the murder she solved the last time we were in her world. She promised herself she will not solve anymore unsolved cases and take herself back down that dangerous rabbit hole.
