What Members Thought

Overall Rating : C-
"Don't glorify the events in you life and try to give them meaning. There is no meaning. Life means nothing. Death means nothing. "
And along with that quote, this book also meant nothing to me. I came for the murder mystery and secret cults. What I got were the ramblings of a narcissistic, egotistical and the delusional thoughts of a "therapist" if you want to actually call her that. The amount of times I just wanted her to die was astounding.
If anything the murders where more ...more

This book, while technically about women, is entirely about men. It's about what men want and what they think about women, what women think about men...
And that leads to flat leading characters. The main character? Grieving her dead husband. The killer? (view spoiler) The titular Maidens? Their only character trait is being obsessed with one man.

3.5⭐️
This is a psychological thriller with a mix of Greek tragedy elements.
The book started off slow and I felt myself dragging along for a lot of the first half. But then in the last quarter of the book, things started picking up and getting interesting. I am glad I stuck it out. The ending definitely was surprising- didn’t see the twist coming. The ending made the reading experience enjoyable.

After his hit The Silent Patient, author Alex Michaelides is back with a Cambridge University-set psychological thriller centered on Greek mythology, a secret society, and a woman set out to prove a charismatic professor has blood on his hands. Prepare to devour this novel thanks to a twisted plot, intricate characters, and an ending that you'll want to rehash with any fellow mystery-lover
