Greene explains relativity so I get it, quantum physics so I follow it, and string theory so that at least I get what it explains. For me, that's pretty good.

There are a few things in the book, layman though I am, that I know are already a little dated - he keeps referring to the age of the universe as 15 billion years, rather than 13.6 billion. Also, he talks about how some big expansion in the moments just after the big bang would explain how the universe is as big as it is, while gravity slow

I didn't read all of this. I'm just not that interested in all the details of string theory. I did very much enjoy the first half or so of this book which was more general in scope. ...more

Parts of this book weren't easy reading for me, but on the whole I found the book's in-depth explanations and desciptions well within my reach. A great read for anyone insterested in string theory, perhaps the most important theory of our time. ...more
