What Members Thought

The one man is Gerhard Domagk, but there is so much more. Domagk's story, while integral, is just one part. He was undoubtedly dogged, as evidenced by 5 years of amazingly precise & thorough testing, especially for the times. He was a great man as we find out at toward the end. Not only did he stand up to the Nazis, but he warned against antibiotic resistance early.

i could not put this book down, literally; i read it in two consectative days. some historical science books dwell too much on the personality of the scientists', but this book dwelt on the science--and in a layperson's vocabulary. i could be biased because i enjoy infectious disease, but i consider this one of my top ten non-fiction books to read. Very enjoyable!
