What Members Thought

This is a fascinating book about the history of uranium. Primarily, it is about the mining of uranium, and secondarily about its use in bombs and in nuclear power plants, and the security (or lack of it) surrounding the mineral. The author has a very engaging style, that keeps one interested all the way through the book.

I read this one for the Science and Inquiry book group - definitely one I wouldn't have chosen on my own but I found it to be good reading and I picked up some interesting nuggets of info. I particularly liked the Homer Simpson references!

Excellent book! I couldn't have loved it more. I leaned so much during great side trips about the making of the bomb, different mine sites where the U was mined for the bomb, etc. Wonderful stories all connected to the story of this one element. I also must say it has to be one of my favorite book cover designs ever - an easy five stars.
