A fascinating look at how roads and the company they bring (cars, trucks, noise pollution) has been impacting their ecosystems. While much of the book focuses on North America, Goldfarb traveled extensively while researching this book -- including to Tasmania, to Brazil --to gain further insights and perspectives into this topic. This was my science book club book for September and was focused on the ecology of roads- how they affect the things living around roads. Even though I feel like I already knew the vast majority of ecology in the book I still enjoyed reading this one. Goldfarb’s writing style was fantastic and I really loved his humor and straightforward storytelling. I found the discussion of sound and roads especially interesting.
