Many moons ago, I saw the blue-haired Miss O'Neil promoting this very book at the Brooklyn Book Festival and at that time I was only barely aware of the implications of sharing my data so willingly with big corporations. Fast forward to 2022, I am more weary of doing so but still can't help but think that my browser and eaves-dropping social media apps know me better than my own family does. A truly remarkable book on the topic. Cathy O’Neil dives into the harmful side of algorithms at mass scale in an excellent and very elegant manner. She covers many domains where potentially harmful large scale algorithms exert their effects. I highly recommend this book.
