What Members Thought
I wanted this to be a 4 star book, but it doesn’t get there. I love Ng’s prose, but the story falls apart and her typically wonderful characters are a bit thin.
I couldn’t help but think of “On Such A Full Sea” by Chang-Rae Lee, because this is the same type of what I’m going to call “mild dystopia.” In other words it’s already happening, but not to this extreme. At least not in the US in 2023.
