IT IS A TRUTH UNIVERSALLY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT JANE AUSTEN's P&P MAY BE TRANSFERRED/TRANSPLANTED /TRANSLATED INTO ALMOST ANY TIME/SITUATION/CULTURE (if the author gets it right, of course! Attempting to write a P&P retelling doesn't automatically makes anyone of Austen-calibre).

I am usually wary of Pride and Prejudice adaptations - it is very difficult to remain faithful to Jane Austen's brilliant stories, while still bringing your own material to the table. But I enjoyed Soniah Kamal's retelling. The fact that it follows the original story so closely may put off some readers, but that's probably why I liked it!
The audiobook, narrated by the author, is fantastic. I enjoyed the descriptions of Pakistani food, clothing, and culture. I liked hearing the Urdu word ...more

Interesting, follows the original too closely, needed a better editor.
