I wanted to love this. I enjoyed the little puppy dog romance between Stella and Michael. It was super cute! I enjoyed having a main character with autism, leading a normal life, who isn’t the eff’d up person in the story.

Hey guys, so I finished The Kiss Quotient (The Kiss Quotient, #1) by Helen Hoang. I actually enjoyed this novel, maybe just a tad more than I expected. The storyline was pretty good, had its ups and downs. Had its highs and lows. Had its breaking point and its mending point. Had where everything seemed to be amazing, then falls apart. Hey guys, so I finished The Kiss Quotient (The Kiss Quotient, #1) by Helen Hoang. I actually enjoyed this novel, maybe just a tad more than I expected. The storyline was pretty good, had its ups and downs. Had its highs and lows. Had its breaking point and its mending point. Had where everything seemed to be amazing, then falls apart. But sometimes when things fall apart, they come back together even stronger than before. Heh. The writing was actually pretty good, not too overwhelming, despite some of the heavy details at times. But it was necessary, in order to understand Stella and her way of life. And to get a feel for Michael's background and such. So yeah, the writing didnt bother me, it was pretty easy to skim and still get wrapped up in the story. Just enough detail that you were immered in the characters thoughts and feelings and actions, but not too lost. And by way of feelings, I mean...feeelings. Whew. *fans self* Man, their chemistry smoldered both inside and outside the bedroom. My gods. I just loved the two characters. And to think their relationship started because Stella just wanted to get better a sex (not a spoiler, it is literally in the synopsis of this novel), for she believed, at the guidance of a male's "advice", that physical intimacy would help her understand men better. For, Stella has Autism. This disorder is primarily associated with lack of social skills, emotional skills, and communication skills. Stella, like most people with Autism, needs her day to be structured, with no twists and turns. She has a strict routine that has to be followed, or else. During most of the novel, she sees her disorder as a hindrance, a nuisance, something that makes her undesirable. For, who would ever love someone as brass and brutally honest as her? Someone who obsesses over the strangest things and works seven days a week. She believes that she needs to change herself and who she is just to fit into someone elses expectations. To be cherished by another, to be deemed acceptable. She was willing to ruin herself, for another. However, what she actually needed during the course of this novel, was for someone to understand her, and be okay with her. Accept her for who she was, all of her, not just bits and pieces. And most importantly, she had to accept herself. In the beginning, she believed that she needed to alter herself and her standards to be desired. Yet she learned that all she needed to be desired, was herself. She was enough. As long as she loved herself, with all her flaws and faults, that was enough. I applaud the author for accurately detailing, through Stella, how someone with Autism faces some of these same hurdles and obstacles in their everyday life. I think she did a great job in honing in on the unseen troubles that someone with Autism may not share with their family and friends, for they are either ashamed about being different and/or uncomfortable with others treating them different because of that label. The Autism label doesnt have to define you. It doesnt. And Stella proved that it is not a weakness. it can be a strength.
Now, Stella is not the only character who struggles with who they are and who they want to be. Michael, the main love interest, is trying to do everything in his power not to follow in his father's footsteps. His father was a bad, very bad man who hurt a lot of people, including Michael and his family. Michael sworn he would never be like him. Until he begins to act just like his father. That scared him. Yet, he also believed that it was inevitable. That it was just fate, that it was just in his blood to be bad and lie and cheat. Until Stella showed him that there was more to him than that. That he was more than that. That he would be a million times the man his father ever was. Through Stella, he begins to realize that she might actually be right. With Stella, Michael is very kind, caring, patient, understanding, sweet, just...so tender and protective of her. He is just so great and fantastic when dealing with her. Before and after he realized why she had problems in the bedroom in the first place. Despite the problems, he still sees her in the best way possible, as herself. As a human. As an equal. And that is vise versa, which Michael was at first surprised about. For, who could treat a man with his background and his profession as a human being with feelings? So yeah, we kind out a lot about Michael through the course of this novel. That he is a hard working man who would go to the ends of the earth for the people he loves. At first he views his bleeding heart as a weakness, when it is actually a strength. Stella and Michael brought out the best in one another, and the worst. Yet, they both worked with and through their issues, both together, and separate. And in the end, both of their equations balanced out. Or did they? Ha. Okay, I prattled on long enough. OBviously, I liked this book, it was a cute, whirlwind new adult romance novel. As always, if you guys have any questions drop em below. Till next time. Bye. ...more

I felt this book had a lot of unnecessary smut and wish I knew the synopsis of this book before going into it because i definitely would not have read it tbh. I also felt like their relationship was so phony idk i just didn’t enjoy this at all and didn’t enjoy their relationship it just was weird to me.

Could she seduce her escort?

Another good book has been found! I honestly loved the two characters, Stella and Michael and the involvement of Asperger's. I haven't seen 'Pretty Women' so I have no clue how that weaves into this, but there you go. This book was the perfect blend of sweet and steamy. There is certainly a bit of pretend-relationship, miscommunication, jealously, pining tropes etc.

Going forward with Michael, she had to tread carefully. Everything about him pleased her. Not just ...more
