I found this book while searching for a dream interpretation guide. This one offers compelling and practical advice for understanding your dreams. The author states that our subconscious creates dreams to motivate, inspire, guide, or warn us--complete with age-old metaphors and archetypes--and condenses all the information into a brain infomercial. By explaining the purpose and significance of archetypes like the Heroic Masculine and the Trickster figure, Dr. Fox gives us the tools to understand I found this book while searching for a dream interpretation guide. As an educator who teaches literary analysis, I understand the significance and power of metaphor and archetype in literature and in life. Applying the same concepts to dreams makes perfect sense. For example, I have many dreams where I am in a house--the author explains how to interpret the house metaphor! The Divine Child, a part of our "psyche that holds our hopes and dreams," is another archetype I found truly intriguing.

Don't expect to zip through this book for answers to your latest dream though. There's a plethora of examples, ideas, and concepts to chew on. I find myself rereading the examples and explanations, and then pausing to reflect on my own Big Dreams. This is a resource I will refer to again and again.
