What Members Thought

My first book by Emily Henry was People we Meet on Vacation. I am not into the Friends-To-Lovers trope, but she made me love it because of her writing and character building.
Book Lovers is a Enemies-To-Lovers story, so more of my jam, with a couple of anti-heroes you would never find in a classic rom-com set in a small town. The banter is the best yet. I absolutely adored every dialogue and the characters are now among my favorite of all time.

Reread March 2023
Reread for book club. I read this last summer for the first time and absolutely loved it. I enjoyed it even more the second time around since I now live in NC and closer to where this takes place. It really is the best kind of romance for book lovers. I love Emily Henry’s books and if you haven’t read this yet, please do yourself a favor and do so!

⭐3/5 stars⭐
**edit from 5/11/2023** i enjoyed this but it definitely wasn't my favorite of EH's books. the plot was a little forgettable now rewriting this review in 2023. I don't remember much of what happened and based on the review i wrote at the time, there was no plot. thus my demotion of the stars, ooops.
can we get a little commotion for the witty banter?

Okay, so two days later and I'm finally ready to talk about this book.
I will say that showing what happens to the person dumped in a typical Hallmark/Lifetime made for tv romance movie was a GENIUS move. To see "behind the curtain" and to see that person humanized was amazing, and also, it kind of shows how selfish most of the leads of those movies actually are in disregarding the person they're leaving for someone new. It definitely takes the shine off the Hallmark of it all, which is honestly ...more
