"Something wicked lurks in these shadows."

This was an interesting take on Jack the Ripper and translating it into something YA.

But it lost me a little somewhere. I just didn't love it as much as I thought I would. First, Audrey Rose is a little hard to like. She's grumpy and snappy and doesn't seem to act at all how a "lady" of these times would. She roams unaccompanied and in riding breaches all the time. And with little to no consequences with people.

I did like Thomas and her uncle and I foun

Loved it and if Goodreads would allow half stars I would have giving this a 4.5. I cannot wait to see what she writes next. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is it really lagged for me until about 100 pages. I don't know if it was the book, the writing, or just my state of mind when I picked up this book. I figured out the who done it part about 3/4's of the way, which is ok with me. I loved the ending and the twist. I love how you wondered about who Jack the Ripper is throughout the book an ...more

Audrey Rose Wadsworth & Thomas Cresswell

This isn't even about a romance, but I loved the interactions between Audrey and Thomas, even as he was one of her suspects in this novel.

I always love to see a woman, girl, lady exceeding what society thinks they are capable of in historical novels. I do believe that this is the first time I've read one dealing with forensics though.

This was a really strong opening to this series, and the author did a wonderful job of keeping you guessing until the end.

I’ve always been fascinated by Jack the Ripper so this was a good fit. I loved Audrey Rose and liked watching her and Thomas figure out the clues. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Jack the ripper is in London creating havoc among the prostitutes but whose Moniker is that? The book gives an alternative version of the real life events including its solution by members of the perpetrators circle of friends and family. An interesting heroine and a storyline which isn't too easy to solve ...more

I enjoyed this book, but I think not as much as the hype surrounding it made me think I would. The first third or so was very slow and didn’t give me the feeling to want to pick up the book and continue reading. Once it got moving I was interested in the story, but what kept me the most were the characters and their personalities. I loved Audrey Rose and Thomas. I’m hoping the next book won’t have such a slow start.

I hated this book so much. If not for an adequate ending I would have given this book only 1 star but the ending elevated the rating slightly.
