“Final Girl is film-geek speak for the last woman standing at the end of a horror movie.”
Let's be honest, no one wants to be a Final Girl - the survivor's guilt and the wondering of "why me?"
That is Quincy's life. But she refuses to be that girl. She's more than that one night, she's more than a victim - she is a survivor.
But as the book goes on, you start to see the cracks. Quin isn't as pulled together as she hoped. Slowly, at the end of a few chapters - you start to get details of the last n ...more

It says that the author is using a pseudonym and has previously published under a different name. I am curious but not curious enough to dig into it. I liked this thriller but it was also a frustrating read. The main character isn't all that likable and seemed rather weak. That seems the norm with this kind of thriller these days but still... The twist at the end was a twist but (view spoiler)

Okay, until about page 150ish, I kept thinking when is this going to get suspenseful? For me the first part dragged a lot but that could’ve been somewhat because it was just a lot of characters getting to know each other and going through their lives...when I didn’t actually care for any of the characters. I just kept wishing we’d get more of the past sections from Pine Cottage and they were super short and far apart.

Loved it!!! SO much I want to say about this book but I don't want to give any of it away. I love a good mystery that keeps me guessing with every turn of the page.
Quinn-she is the MC and is one of the 3 Final Girls. She is approached by one of the other final girls, Sam, and she doesn't trust her or believe anything that comes out of her mouth. She is going to marry Jeff who is an attorney.
Coop-He's the one who swooped in and rescued her from the nightmare she found herself in while in college ...more

Written like a horror movie turned novel, this book definitely kept me turning the pages; and while it was "scary", it was more "Scream" than Stephan King--complete with real killer reveals, unpredictable twists, and creepy scenes. Not being able to guess the end, for me, is a huge plus, although the ending didn't quite feel true to the characters as they had been developed (no spoilers here). I found the writing a bit prosaic, with some cliches and weak puns, and the characters a bit one dimens

This book was excellent. It wasn't happy or pretty but it was so good. I was convinced I had it all figured it all out and boy was I wrong. That's a really good thriller that can twist you around like that.
