“Just because it is in Malibu's nature to burn, so was it in one particular person's nature to set fire and walk away.”

I loved this one. This one just absolutely spoke to my soul. As parents, we mess up. Man oh man, if only there were a manual. But there isn't so we all mess up. This is the story about some kids who grew up - it's 4 of them: Nina, Hud, Jay and Kit. Their mom helped raise them - and you learn her story through out the first half.

And then you read about them now, grown. That is th

I loved this book. I have loved each book I've read by Taylor Jenkins Reid so far. This one with the dysfunctional family and the kids that are messed up but still great in their own way. I love the ending was messy and not finished up perfectly meaning nobody lived happily ever after. They still had their issues but they also had each other.

Highly recommend this book

4.5 stars. I’m not sure but I think I’ll be rounding down for GR. (Why not add half star ratings instead of messing with the book page GR???)
While I loved June and the Riva children, and loved to hate Mick, I just felt like the change in how the story was told in Part Two took away from things for me.

The story of Mick Riva and his wife June's 4 children. The story, eventually, focuses on the party oldest child Nina is holding at her house. I know a lot of people really love this book but I didn't. I didn't like any of the characters. The first part of the book really drags as it details Mick and June's relationship. Mick is a complete jerk and I really didn't want to read about him any more. When the party finally got started some interesting events occurred but it took awhile to get there. ...more

One.
Million.
Stars.

This book is absolutely beyond phenomenal. I was sobbing by the end of it. There is so much beauty, so much love and heartbreak...there is so much gorgeous language and phrases and imagery. The dialogue is perfect, the characters complex. This is what all fiction writing should aspire to.
