A great classic I would recommend to everyone. I love all the characters all the planets. The book just opens this world up to you and swallows you whole! I loved it!

It was alright... I was honestly expecting better with all the accolades and such. I don't really like books that do big jumps in time. Like two years and suddenly this person is with this person and they have all these abilities or are leaders. I like seeing that transformation happen not just being told it happened. I think it is kinda lazy on the author's part. I know, probably not a popular opinion, but it is mine. ...more

Part of this read was viewing my younger self reading this - hi past me! Part was seeing the age marks and noticing how the world has changed — women are people, gender is variable, colonialism has problems, ecology is complicated. But it’s ambition and commitment still make the pages turn, and the action is well done and gom jabbers are still both really cool and rather idiotic, and fear is the mind killer that I let pass through me.
