Shelves: fairy-tale-re-tellings, fantasy, historical-fantasy

I didn’t really get on with this book. The peoples of Whistling Tor were great, the language and writing , the incorporation of history into fantasy was good too. But I didn’t like the main character Caitlin who always seemed to be either frozen in fear or bleating on about how hope will save the day. The book was too long and the dialogue stilted.
I have loved the Shadowfell trilogy and the Blackthorn and Grim trilogy too. This one deserves 3 stars for the setting, descriptions and the people o ...more

One of the best and most gripping 'Beauty and the Beast' retelling I've read so far. Loved every page of it. I won't forget the story of Anluan and Caitrin any time soon. I absolutely recommend this book (stand alone). ...more
