I really enjoyed learning so much about the deaf community because I feel like I didn't know much prior to reading this novel. Also some of the in-between information nuggets the author added between the chapters I felt were unnecessary, I really like the ones that focused on the history of the deaf community and ASL. It was interesting to learn more about the debate of cochlear implants versus ASL and how families navigate parenting a child with hearing loss. ...more

I really enjoyed reading True Biz! I found it riveting but also engaging as it taught a little bit of relevant sign all the way through. The ending fell a little flat for me and it felt like the whole book was getting you ready for a great ending that would never come. Overall, I would definitely recommend!
