The first few chapters of this book were awesome…. But then the plot disappeared, the resistance is no more and where is Mak!? Also, if there are nearby cities FULL of ordinaries, why do they not rebel or join the resistance? 🤔 That makes no sense to me.

And I really wish more time was spent on the chase/hunt. It was seriously over too soon.

Despite all of that, I still really enjoyed the story and the journey the main characters ...more

This is YA fantasy at its finest and the perfect little love story prequel to the final book. After finishing a couple of spicy adult romantasy books, I enjoyed the more romantic, cutesy, romp free flow of this book (and the previous one).

There’s a bit more backstory but the main plot is focused on Pae escaping the kingdom and Kai’s mission to catch her, with plenty of tension and the same kind of banter as Powerless. There were a few too many references to “stormy grey eyes” for my liking and ...more
