This was really good, and much better towards the end. It’s an age gap, reluctant traveling companions to lovers, training trope, found family and secret powers trope story. Althea wants to be a warrior even they women warriors are not allowed. When she gets the chance to train, she is hazed and has to work harder to be accepted. She falls for one of the best warriors who tries to keep her safe as he falls for her. I look forward to how the rest of the series develops.

1st book of 2025 for me and it did not disappoint. Loved this book & I can't wait to start the next. This will almost certainly be a reread for me. Only thing is I wish there was a little more relationship development or explanation on the mmc's feelings about different things but I expect book 2 will reveal more!
