This puts Iron Flame to shame. Honestly, the 2nd book was annoying and at times hard to get through because Xaden and Violet were constantly fighting AND THEN WE GET THIS and it doesn't make any more sense than before. And now we get so many juicy plot twists and all this new info OMG.

Edit: I've been reading more 1 and 2-star reviews for this book and I have come to the conclusion that most of those readers might have wildly different preferences from mine. And there's a couple of strong critiques. Mostly when it comes to "dripfeeding" information and fleshing out the facts. I do agree that at times the info and facts were just little bits there and other bits here. But I actually like that. Just because I love theorizing. But I do hope everything gets fully explained and the solutions end of the series is satisfying. There's definitely a possibility all of this gets very messy if it isn't wrapped up and in that case I would be disappointed too. But for now, I don't mind. I kinda like it.

QUESTIONS, THEORIES AND SPOILERS
(view spoiler)[So Aretia is missing six dragon eggs? I bet the hatching grounds at Basgiath are also missing six dragon eggs. Remember when the queen of Unnbriel suggested a deal? Twelve dragon eggs to bring her army to the continent. And Unnbriel had all those people with silver hair? Most likely because they've been touched by or dedicated to Dunne. I have no fucking clue how all of that comes together but it means something and maybe Violet figured it out.

1. In the beginning of the last chapter Andarna promises she won't let them burn Violet and Violet is confused why they would burn her and so am I. Is she turning Venin?
2. Why are there dead dragons, riders and elders in the valley? All dead within the last few hours. Maybe it had nothing to do with Xaden because I'm pretty sure he was busy stealing dragon eggs and marrying Violet.
3. Four missing riders. One of them is Xaden and the other Garrick. What about the two others?
4. Does Imogen know anything? Or did she just wipe Violets memory because Violet made her do it and knows next to nothing? Where was she the last twelve hours? She says she hasn't seen Xaden since yesterday but according to Brennan it's 3 in the morning so that's not saying much.
5. Tairn needs rest. Why? My guess is they were doing hell of a lot traveling in the past 12 hours.
6. Garrick might be the "brother" who turned Venin in Draithus. At least he's missing and Xaden seemed so disappointed to see them turn Venin that I have to think it's someone close to him. The last time Garrick was mentioned was with Imogen and he was nearing burnout from distance wielding so much during the battle.
7. The official blessing of their marriage is also from the head priestess of Dunne's temple so maybe they went to Unnbriel together.

Also, Xaden is an asshole leaving Violet with nothing but a ring on her finger. If I were her I would bitch slap him so hard the next time I see him.
Btw, the ring has a stone from the Blade of Aretia and it has been missing a stone for a while so Xaden got the ring made way before Draithus.

She redeemed herself! This was infinitely better than book two, and watching her start to pull these threads together was an absolute joy. One star off for some circuitous writing that made me work harder than I truly believe was needed—we know she’s good at weaving a plot, no need to make me work to understand what you’re trying to say!
