I read this book for my Read the World series for Bangladesh, although Anwar now lives in Canada so this book was not translated. It starts with a woman preparing for a storm because the villagers say a boatman in black which brought a bad omen, the story of who the boatman is does come but way later in the book. the story itself is told in three different times with multiple characters and it is up to the reader to piece them together.
