This book is so powerful. In detail and with so much honesty Annie Ernaux writes about an abortion she had in 1963, when abortion was not only despicable to most of the catholics of France (and the rest of the world) but also illegal.
Without help and afraid to be a disgrace for her family, she finds help where she didn’t expect it and rejection where people should know better.
