🤔 Ik vond het boek zeker boeiend. Het verhaal was inderdaad magisch realistisch zoals mijn dochter als Japanse literatuurkenner al aangaf. Ik vond ook de afsluiting van het verhaal mooi: "de werkelijkheid is niet veranderd, maar in de harten van de mensen die op de stoel hebben gezeten is er wel een belangrijke verandering opgetreden."
Soms moest ik even denken aan oudere Nederlandse toneelstukken die ik op tv zag en waar er ook een koebel of een andere bel "Klingeling" zei ...more

I think the book is an enjoyable, easy read. The story is nice: four people in a cafe travel through time to see again loved ones, to make peace with their mistakes and to live life better in the future. The people are charming and (sometimes) interesting, and the emotions are recognisable. I’d recommend this story to anyone who needs an easy escapism read. Found some beautifully written pieces in this book. It’s a nice message as well. It’s not a story that really got me from the start, though. I felt my mind wander of more than a few times. It still is a beautiful book to read in between longer books, I think. Also, I found the story really original. I feel like Japanese writers have a different way of writing, a different imagination, and their stories really have meaning in them. Definitely read this book if you haven’t read something from a Ja
