Vee: This starts off where Fourth Wing left off and it's just an info dump of information after that. Certain parts were a little clunky and I had to reread to properly absorb but the overall feel of the book was so good! It was tense, emotional, exciting!! You learn so much but are just left asking more questions or if you're like me jumping to conclusions, which makes me very nervous for the upcoming books. I don't want to say too much and be spoilery but just know you're in for a ride with riders who are going through it and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

13/11 - This is the hangover that never ends, it just goes on and on my friend. Rebecca, explain yourself.

16/11 - Emerging from the haze of the hangover, I can now articulate a proper review.

Part one: 4.5/5.
Part two: a solid 5/5.

Part one felt bombarded with information, and went at a considerably slower pace and in terms of plot dynamics, FW wielded more impact. Part two? Blended seamlessly with FW, and I was genuinely hooked.

The ending? Obliterated me.

I'm really frickin' upset with this ending. Rebecca, how could you do this to us.. again?
But also, I loved this book. I haven't been this obsessed with a book series since reading SJM's books. Please, please, PLEASE publish the 3rd book asap. 🥹

The ending of this book was a huge cliffhanger and had me up all night contemplating it all.
The last 25 pages had me angry, upset, happy, and every other emotion in between.

With that being said, there were a lot of "Violet's upset, Xaden's upset, they're both upset" pages...like enough is enough, move the story along! Tairn is the reason I rated this 5 stars - he held the story together! ...more
