Doesn't get especially creepy or atmospheric until near the end of the book. Bad Cree is, however, a great story about familial grief and trauma that traces the effects of both personal and communal loss. The family is so easy to love in this book, and I loved seeing them support but also act very realistically in anger towards the protagonist when she comes back home. There's a lot of sadness in this book but also a lot of healing.
