9/8/23 - I ended up rereading this after Ruin and am so sad at how Lan was built up here for him to be a miss in Ruin. I plan on rereading 1 + 2 too since I feel my thoughts would them for change for the better (I was absolutely in the wrong mood when I read them even though I found the spice to be hot in both). While I was a little blergh about the drama and on/off relationship dynamic here with my reread, I still found their spice + romance + kinks to be extremely hot. 11/22/22 - Third time's the charm for me with this series and yes, I'm completely biased because XanKim is my freakin' kryptonite. 🤣 I hated the first book, tolerated the second book, but holy shit, I devoured Wrath and picked up the book up every chance I got. The quality and formula of the writing/plot is pretty much the same as the first two God books. Once I realized that, I was able to lower my expectations and take this at face value and enjoy the ride. So why is this a 5 stars for me? Well, one, extreme nostalgia for one of my fave Royal Elite couples. 😂 I loved loved loved the parents' POVs that we get. (Also, I am desperate for crumbs about Kirian because I loved him as a little boy in Black Knight and want to see him get his HEA too. So Rina, please? 🥺) Mom Kim made me tear up and I'm so proud of her and so so happy for her too. Second, Adrian mf'ing Volkov is great so I was more than happy to hear from him again here (and I still need to read his duet).

I knew I was going to love Cecy just by default of her being XanKim's daughter, but I'm glad she really held her own too. Another reason why I liked Wrath over the first two is that I felt there was some more depth to Jeremy and Cecily. Not enough from Jeremy in the 500+ pages we get, but at least things felt more coherent than Malice, and there wasn't as big of a, imo, dumb drama that we get in Pain. I also like that even though the rest of the group obviously show up and there are intersecting scenes from the other books, it still felt more like Jeremy and Cecily got to actually have their moments. And uh, *ahem* another big reason why I like this one more is probably because of the acceptance of the kinks and the dynamic between Jer/Cecy. 🤭 Even if some of it had me raising my eyebrows. Whatever floats your boat, you two. I am here for it all!

I still feel like I will definitely enjoy the rest of the series. They're not going to be the most mind-blowing emotional books of the year, but they will definitely have some nice kinky smut with a tiny splash of plot to tide you over and I will probably gobble up the rest of the series just the same. So many couples that I'm just dying to read. 😭 Loved Ilya too and really hope he gets his own book too!!
