Another early PKD novel, this one using the trope of time travel to explore the philosophical problem of free will and determination. PKD somehow avoids all the pitfalls of time travel paradoxes (or else I'm either too stupid or not pedantic enough to tease out the paradoxes in his telling) and so the story is able to stand on the merits of his description of a very interesting future world. One of the most interesting notions explored in this book is the question of what value you would have to society if you travelled to a different time and place. Surely a doctor's skills would always be valued? Well, as it happened, no...

A good quality PKD tale that any fan of his work should enjoy.

Ah! Time traveling and a dystopian future. One of Dick's more conventional sci-fi novels, perhaps because it was one of his earliest works. Not as well developed as later stories, but still a very enjoyable ride. ...more

Early philip k. dick, which means the theology is somewhat hidden by plot... but it's a darkly fascinating read, with plenty of thought-provoking twists. ...more
