The subject of this book is shocking and uncomfortable; I'm not sure I'd want my young adult to read it. A 12-year-old girl from high in the mountains of Nepal is sold, possibly with the mistaken belief that she would be working as a maid. This story is told from her point of view, and that is certainly what she believed. But it turns out that she is one of many children who are sold to the poor brothels in Calcutta, India.
