Light-hearted and fun. I enjoyed the first half very much. Daphne and Simon interacted well, their dialogue was amusing and I believed their growing attraction. I lost interest a bit when we got to the duel & married life because the humour and camaraderie died off, & tedium set in. I found Lady Whistledown’s exerpts more irritating & unnecessary the longer the book continued. It was entertaining at times and easy-reading.

I really liked this story. Daphne was such a great character: strong, smart, funny, and caring to a fault. She was the perfect match for man fighting his demons like Simon Basset, The Duke of Hastings.
The Bridgerton family was a hilarious addition to the story and I needed the comic relief at times. Reading about Simon's horrible upbringing was hard to stomach at times.

Loved this book! In fact, I'm a huge Julia Quinn fan because her books are enjoyable Regency romances, with a little bit of drama or maybe an interesting twist, and also some humor. This one centers around the typical format, a devastatingly handsome duke (of course) who gets involved with an amusing and intelligent young ingenue. What's a little different and interesting is that the duke (Simon) grew up with a pronounced stammer that shaped his youth and turned him into the person he is now. Wh

I, like the rest of America, have spent my holiday week binging Bridgerton on Netflix. I mean have you see the actor that plays Simon? Of course, my whole family binged and talked about all the cute men. So then what else was a book lover to do at the end of the season besides buying all the books on her Kindle! Ooops.
The Duke and I differs from the show in that it exclusively focuses on Daphne and Simon. Which makes sense, as the 7 other books focus on the other Bridgerton siblings. While a wo ...more
