I was enjoying this quite well until I got to the first KISS (about 120p) & it all started to go downhill. Oh, the fuss - just tell the man for crying out loud! Anyway, it all started getting a bit too dramatic for me, & really, what sort of idiot is she to head to that camp alone?
I did enjoy the town, the people & the friendships, it was all quite lovely. There's nothing terribly wrong with the book, it's a pretty good romance, all things considered. I think I'm just disappointed, because of al ...more

I liked it!!
We meet Mel , who is trying to move on after her husband's death and Jack , a former Marine. Mel comes to Virgin River for a new start and rakes up the job of the medicine practitioner/midwife.
The book was a tad bit predictable but I didnt mind that too much. The characters were likeable and I lovedd Preacher , Ricky. Doc Mullins was a lovely character.
Both Jack and Mel have suffered in life and deserved to be happy with each other. ...more

This one was a little more syrupy than what I'm used to, but it was pretty good. I will probably read more in the series since I can get them free.

This is the first book in the Virgin River series and is a reread for me. Melinda Moore answered an ad for a community looking for a nurse/midwife. At first glance, Melinda decides this is exactly what she needs to move forward. She has recently lost her husband and needs a new start in a place where no one knows her. She wants the time to heal and not answer any questions.
Sitting in a ditch in the middle of nowhere, Melinda begins to wonder what possessed her to accept the Virgin River job. The ...more

I really enjoyed this book and like how Robyn Carr writes, so you feel as if you know the people of Virgin River. I debated on whether to give it 3 or 4 stars and decided to give it 4, but if I could I would have given it 3 and a half stars. Jack, though seemed too perfect, too patient and he never seemed to get angry.
