I really enjoy Philippa Gregory's books on Ann Bolyn. This one was interesting but at times dragged. While Ms. Gregory characterized Elizabeth and her children there was just too many details. At times, I will admit that I could not put the book down but other times had to skim a few pages. All in all this was an enjoyable read.

This was quite a fascinating book, not my usual style at all. Lots of actual history surrounding the War of the Roses, which occurred in the 1400's. What an exhausting time period in which to live--so much conniving and treachery going on, so much death. It all starts with Elizabeth who meets Edward (future king) in order to gain back her lands. I really love Philippa Gregory's books. She is absolutely wonderful at mixing historical fact and interesting fiction. The only issue I had with this book is that I frequently found myself confused at the characters. Not that it's really any of Ms. Gregory's fault, but at this time everyone in England appears to have the names George, Richard, Edward, Elizabeth or Anne. It makes things all very confusing.
