I loved this book. It's a good book if it's 2 am and you have an alarm set for 6:30 am, but you consider just staying up to keep reading...twice. It reminded me quite early on of both the Matched and Delirium series. I enjoyed both of those, so why wouldn't I like this? YA dystopian fiction just seems to be my thing.

Aw, this is really hard for me to review...
I find that when most reviews rant and rave about the book, the less excited I get about reading it. With the upcoming Hunger Games movie though, I wanted to read something in similar line (ie. dystopia). I liked it but I don't love it - that makes me sad :(
I liked Roth's descriptive ways (I don't have the book in front of me now but when I do, I'll update this review with a quote). And I really liked the suspense involved for the Aptitude test, in find ...more

Fascinating. Apparently someone decided that the world should be divided into 5 factions of people, representing peace, courage, honesty, selflessness, and intelligence. Interesting concept if a little blurry as a concept. But the character-development was good through the book. I enjoyed watching Beatrice/Tris grow and develop from a young and protected 16-year-old to building her personality and her skills. Brother Caleb also embraced his internal self and chose his proper path. In Tris's fact

I’ve had this on my TBR for a very long time. I am not a big YA Fantasy reader, but I wanted to compare the book to the movie. The basic premise is set in dystopian Chicago where the world is divided into five factions and 16 year olds much choose which faction that they want. They are then removed from their families and sent off to train in their respective faction. The story centers on Beatrice whose test results are inconclusive. This entire book reminds me of The Hunger Games, Matched, and

I just could not get into this book. I had never read dystopian, unless I did in high school and did not know it then. Not sure if Brave New World or Lord of the Flies is considered dystopian. I don't think back in the 80s, the word "dystopian" was even used. I debated whether to even read this and for a long time did not. I decided to try listening it on audio, but after listening to several chapters, I decided this just wasn't for me.
