I sat up until well after midnight last night to finish this book, as it really did leave me breathless. Of course, I was taken completely by the worlds and the seraphim and chimaera, but what was so brilliant was the slow revealing of the secret of Karou's existence, Akiva's behaviour and everything that had happened in the beginning of the book. I am pleased to say, I never even guessed at what was going on, but it was so logical and fantastic. And for once, I wasn't annoyed that the book was ...more

I had read another book by this author last year and I personally didn't like it, but when I found that there were going to be angels in this book, I had to give Laini Taylor another try and read this book.

What an excellent story! I really enjoyed this one. I was totally entranced once I started because Karou's character was so interesting. I kind of knew what the big secret surrounding her true identity was but I didn't quite get it until right before the reveal and that was awesome because I kept coming up with different scenarios in my head. This was kind of sad too. So much killing and war in Karou's world and she didn't even realize it until close to the end of the book.

I really enjoyed the spin on the whole good vs. evil thing with this novel. It's kind of a twisted tooth fairy tale. The characters are really interesting and crazy imaginative. I was NOT a fan of the ending. Don't get me wrong, it's really written well, but I NEED to read the second one RIGHT NOW and I have other books on the list first. It's totally killing me to wait. ...more

What in hades did I just finish reading???

I haven't been slapped by a book like this in quite a while.

Magical..Alluring..Fantasy Filled..Beautiful..Awe Inspiring..

Those are just a few words that I would use to describe this wonderful book. Where has Laini Taylor been all my life? She is such a wonderful author. I've never read another author who could have spun a tale as brilliant as this one. I can't wait to get my hands on the 2nd one.
