A 5-star rating for a YA dystopian novel? I'm just as shocked as you. I had no idea what this book was about when I picked it up, I just knew my book club selected it as our next read and the movie is coming out soon. I had no idea it was about an alien invasion! Totally not my thing. Sci-fi is not my thing. This book grew on me, becoming a thing I couldn't put down until I finished the darn thing. If you only pick up one book this year, make it this one. I'm not even sure I can exactly explain to you why. Saying it's an excellent read is not enough. It has everything I enjoy in a dystopian/apocalyptic novel. I was really blown away by everything. As I'm reading half the time I'm saying, "Wow, I didn't see that coming" or "You have got to be kidding me". It's suspenseful and exciting.
