Before indie publishing I can imagine Mr. Harris going to his agent and editor giving a pitch... “I am going to write a story where everyone basically knows the ending, set it Pompeii, with a municipal engineer as the main character and I am going to throw in some hard science geology and volcanology at the beginning of each chapter ... best seller right!”

Just about everyone participating in the Poll Ballot Tally Challenge is reading Pompeii for Hawaii so I'm not going to put together a very long review. Readers already know a lot about the last days of Pompeii, and that everything and everyone, finally, will be overwhelmed by disaster.
